Why we built elvaro

STORYJune 8, 2026·6 min read·elvaro team

elvaro didn't start last year with a pitch deck. It started seven years ago, in San Francisco, building AI for the people who manage money professionally. This is the story of why we're now building for everyone else.

Where we come from

elvaro is a product of Invalert, a San Francisco-based AI company. For the past seven years, Invalert has built tools, AI automation, and portfolio management systems for professional asset managers, the software that sits behind the people whose full-time job is making investment decisions with other people's money.

Working at that level teaches you things no retail product ever shows you. You learn what professional-grade market data actually looks like, and how much cleaning, structuring, and validation separates it from a raw price feed. You learn that professionals don't outperform because they're smarter; they outperform because they have systems: analysts who read everything, risk frameworks that fire automatically, and processes that don't care how anyone feels about a position. And you learn that almost none of this machinery was ever designed to reach an individual trader.

The gap we couldn't unsee

For seven years we watched two worlds run on completely different equipment. Asset managers had automation reading every source, portfolio systems tracking every exposure, and disciplined risk rules enforced in software. Individual traders, often trading the same assets, against the same algorithmic market, had a charting app, a dozen browser tabs, and their own nerves at 3am.

That gap was never about intelligence. It was about cost. An analyst team, a risk desk, and clean institutional data cost more than any individual could justify. So retail traders were left to compete with hand-drawn trendlines against machines, and the results are what you'd expect.

Then the economics changed

Large language models changed what it costs to replicate an analyst's work. Reading everything, cross-checking sources, synthesizing a view, writing it up in plain language, the parts of professional research that required headcount, became something software could do, on demand, for the price of an app subscription.

But an LLM alone isn't an analyst. It has no live data, no discipline, and no accountability. What makes the difference is everything around the model: the data layer feeding it, the tools it calls, the risk rules it cannot override. That's precisely the machinery Invalert had spent seven years building for professionals.

So the decision made itself. Take the domain expertise from serving asset managers. Take the clean, structured datasets refined over years of institutional work. Add the agent layer that makes it conversational. And ship it as a consumer product anyone can use.

That product is elvaro.

The principles we won't trade away

Independence. elvaro is not owned by an exchange and earns nothing from your trading volume. Our only revenue is your subscription, which means our only incentive is being right enough that you keep it.

Read and recommend, never execute. Professionals separate analysis from execution for a reason. elvaro researches, monitors around the clock, and delivers signals with take-profit and stop-loss defined, and then you decide, on your own accounts. The execution capability deliberately does not exist in the product.

Non-custodial, always. No seed phrases, no withdrawal keys, no funds held. Seven years in this industry teaches you that the safest vault is the one that doesn't exist.

Discipline built in. Every signal ships with an exit plan, because in professional risk management an entry without an exit isn't a strategy, it's a hope. We encoded that rule into the product format itself.

What elvaro is today

One agent that monitors the entire crypto market, live prices, onchain activity, technical indicators, sentiment, and turns it into answers, risk-defined signals, and a daily brief personalized to your goals and risk tolerance. It's live now, and your first questions are free.

The tools of professionals shouldn't be a hedge-fund privilege. It took us seven years to build the machinery and one insight to realize who it was really for.

elvaro, institutional-grade market intelligence, for every trader. Built on seven years of Invalert's work for professional asset managers. First questions free.
